Parisians advised to boycott Israeli products

A pro-Palestinian group has called on residents of Paris to boycott Israeli products in protest at the Zionist regime's crimes against Palestinians. Leaflets urging Parisians to refrain from purchasing goods produced by "war criminals" were distributed in the French capital over the weekend as part of a wider consumer boycott of Israeli goods to show solidarity with the Palestinians. Euro Palestine -- the group handing out the leaflets -- says the move aims at condemning the Israeli occupation, apartheid, violence, land theft and to protest the "starvation and suppressions of millions of people [in Palestine]." Food manufacturer Osem, pharmaceutical giant Teva, and winemaker Carmel are among the more than 20 Israeli companies mentioned in the list. The pro-Palestinian organization also calls for a ban on agricultural products coming from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories such as avocados, tomatoes and peppers, saying they "are produced by robbing the Palestinians of water and land, while the Israeli occupation prevents the Palestinians from working in agriculture and exportation. Their land has turned into military areas and nature reserves." According to Euro Palestine, similar boycotts of Israeli products have already taken place in other European states, the US and Canada. Last week, hundreds of Jordanians held demonstrations in Amman to protest the import of Israeli agricultural products, saying the import of such fruit and vegetables benefits Jewish settlers in the occupied territories.
