DM: Iran Ready to Transfer Military Tools, Technology to Regional States

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi on Monday announced the country's preparedness to transfer its defensive capabilities to the regional countries.

"We have declared to all regional countries that we are ready to provide them with Iran's defense capabilities, " Vahidi said on the sidelines of a ceremony to unveil a number of Iranian Air Industries' achievements.

He pointed to Iran's progress in defense fields, and reiterated that all Iranian productions are manufactured domestically and that the rate of growth in the production of Iranian defensive tools and equipments is even higher than that of some developed countries.

Meantime, the minister stressed that Iran's military products are made to defend the country and serve as part of the Islamic Republic's doctrine of deterrence.

Iran has recently made good progress in the production of military tools and weapons, specially in the air industry. The country's defense industries announced just days ago that they had succeeded in gaining the technical know-how for producing stealth aircraft and drones.

In the latest event, Iran inaugurated the production line of two home-made Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with bombing and reconnaissance capabilities just today.

The two hi-tech drones named 'Ra'd' (Thunder) and 'Nazir' (Harbinger) are capable of conducting long-range reconnaissance, patrolling, assault and bombing missions with high precision.

Tehran launched an arms development program during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war on Iran, to compensate for a US weapons embargo. Since 1992, Iran has produced its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles and fighter planes.

Yet, Iranian officials have always stressed that the country's military and arms programs serve defensive purposes and should not be perceived as a threat to any other country.
