Two motorcyclists have been killed in the same Isle of Man TT race, the Auto Cycle Union (ACU) has said.
Martin Loicht, from Austria, and Paul Dobbs, from New Zealand, were taking part in the Supersport 2 Race on Thursday.
Mr Loicht was fatally injured at the Quarry Bends section of the course. Mr Dobbs died in an accident at Ballagarey
Mr Dobbs' death was announced on on Thursday, but the union only confirmed Mr Loicht's death on Friday.
The ACU said Mr Loicht was a professor of mechanical engineering and was married with two children.
Dr Paul King, technical director at the ACU, said: "I got to know Martin really well by working with him on the TT Zero project as he was developing a bike to compete in that race.
"He was a real character who was passionate and committed to motorcycling and he reflected the amateur spirit and endeavour that pervades the TT."
