At least 16 people have been killed and dozens injured in a factory explosion in eastern China, official media say. The explosion at the quartz sand factory in Fengyang county, Anhui province, happened at 0300 local time on Sunday (1900 GMT on Saturday). The cause was not immediately clear, and the government was reported to still be gathering information. Most of those killed were workers, while the 44 injured were all local residents, Xinhua news agency said. The factory is owned by the private company Jingxin Mining, the agency reported. |
