PFI Freedom Parade in four places on August 15

The Popular Front of India will organise Freedom Parade and public meeting in four places on the coming Independence Day. PFI has selected Kumbakonam(Tamil Nadu), Mysore (Karnataka), Kannur and Idukki (Kerala) for the Parade and public meeting. “The aim of the parade is to create awareness in the people about the tradition of the freedom struggle,” said E Aboobaker, national executive member of the PFI. “We aim to create a sense of pride for the country in people’s minds. People should know what independence is and how we achieved it. It is a way to create confidence and consciousness in people.” The PFI has organised the Freedom Parade every year since 2004, with the slogan ‘Be the saviour of freedom’. New places are selected for the parade each year. The first parade was held in Calicut (by the National Development Front, which later merged into the PFI). Last year parades were held in Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Mangalore (Karnataka), Kochi and Mananthavady (Kerala).
